Review of research

Creation of:

  • Scope and Sequence Documents
  • Vocabulary
  • Computational Proficiency Expectations
 

October-November

October 12, 2006:

The workgroup meets, reviews research, data, and scope and sequence work.

The workgroup develops list of criteria to be used to evaluate materials

Input from teachers and parents is gathered via surveys

The criteria identified by the workgroup are developed into instruments for evaluating the materials.

Assistant Superintendent and Math Specialist

  • Meet with Issaquah PTSA presidents.
  • Meet with PTSA council.

 

Continuous feedback loops between:

  • Committee representatives and colleagues
  • Committee representatives and principals
  • Math specialist and principals (standing item on Sectional agenda)
  • Math Specialist and middle and high school department chairs (standing item on monthly meeting agenda)

Ongoing information in:

  • e-news
  • PTSA newsletter
  • Constant updates on District website
 

November

 

All materials sent by publishers go through two rounds of screening:

  • Initial screen to select materials for an in-depth review
  • In-depth review select finalists

January

Finalists are selected for the field test

 

Assistant Superintendent and Math Specialist visit PTSA meetings.

 

February

 

Grade level meetings for teachers and principals to learn about the programs chosen for the field test and give input.

 

March

   

In-depth study
Parents and teachers throughout the District have opportunities to review materials and provide feedback.

 

April

 

   

April 4 at Issaquah Middle School:

Parent meeting to learn about program recommended for in-depth study.

May

Using all data, a recommendation is made to the Assistant Superintendent and the Superintendent’s cabinet.

The recommendation goes to the IMSC and School Board.
