Fifth grade orchestra

Updates:
  • October 8, 2013:The fifth grade orchestra program is now full and closed for registration.

Would your child enjoy orchestra class as a fifth grader this year?

Here is some information to help you make that decision
  • Program location

Clark Elementary School is the host site for the 2013-2014 fifth grade orchestra program.

  • Length of class and time of day

One Tuesday/Friday session is offered this year. Classes run 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM—BEFORE the start of elementary school day.

  • Transportation

Transportation to and from the host school is the responsibility of each student's family. When orchestra class is finished each day, students will be escorted to a parent pick up location.

  • Cost

The annual, non-refundable $300 fee helps cover the cost of the orchestra instructor and educational assistant. This fee is due before the first class session in October, 2013.

Registrations are accepted until a class is full. If a class is not filled to the minimum of 12 students, the program will be canceled and a full refund will be issued. Additional parent letter and registration forms are available on this web page, at your school office, and at the Central Administration office at 565 NW Holly Street in Issaquah.

Once a class fills, we will place students’ names on a wait list in the order each completed registration packet is received.

Students select the stringed instrument of their choice—violin, viola, cello or bass—and rent (recommended) or purchase the instrument before classes begin in October. Each student should also purchase the book Essential Elements 2000, Book 1 for the instrument they have selected, along with supplies such as a shoulder rest for violins and violas and an end-pin holder for cellos and basses.

Fifth grade orchestra is a choice program and gives students a chance to begin a life-long skill for their personal enjoyment or potential career. We are pleased to offer the opportunity and to invite you to take part.
