Exciting new summer high-school enrichment courses
Culinary Arts! Food & Fitness! Basic Construction! Arts in the Puget Sound! In addition to traditional summer credit-retrieval opportunities, the District is now offering hands-on, relevant classes that will satisfy the fine art, career and technical education, and physical education graduation requirements. This is a great way for students to freely explore a new trade or their creative side while opening their schedule for other classes during the school year.
Here are just a few of the brand new courses we're offering this year! Take a look at these, and then go to the full list of classes and descriptions here.
- Basic Construction 101: Did you ever wonder how to tape and repair drywall, do basic plumbing, learn how to wire an outlet and light switch, build a deck, pour concrete, frame a shed, or hang a window and door? If you answered "yes," then Basic Construction 101 is for you. You'll learn all that and more!
- Exploring the Arts in the Puget Sound: Did you know that you live in one of the best performing and visual art areas in the nation? Sign up and explore what the Puget Sound has to offer in local art museums and performing art venues.
- Culinary Arts: While learning a variety of cooking techniques ranging from soups, sauces, salads and entrees to baking and pastry, you'll also learn about herbs and spices and flavor matching, plating design, service presentation and cuisines from around the world.
- PE/Food and Fitness: Develop and improve your skills in a variety of lifelong physical fitness activities. Learn about nutrition and how to prepare basic healthy snacks and meals.
