Adoption process and timeline

  • Secondary science curriculum parent input survey responses-Spring 2014.
    All comments are displayed that do not violate the district's civility policy and/or personally name individuals.
  • Teacher adoption committee: Formed September 2015
  • Teacher adoption committee meeting dates
    Each meeting date includes its planned main agenda item(s), then links to the specific meeting summary when available
    • September 11, 2015: Finalize charter, review scope and sequence, review teacher survey feedback.
    • November 2, 2015: Begin reviewing curriculum materials
    • March 25, 2016: Evaluate materials
    • May 5, 2016: Evaluate materials, make field testing decisions
    • October 11, 2016: Review field test and collaboration
    • November 29, 2016: Team members completed the EQuIP Rubric for SEPUP and Pearson.
    • January 6, 2017: Unanimously decided to select STC for implementation in Fall 2017.
    • March 14, 2017: Begin planning for implementation
    • May 11, 2017: Receive new materials
  • IMC review and decision: materials presented January 12, 2017.
  • IMC meeting dates: Meeting dates are reflected in the Upcoming Events section of the District website home page
  • TBD (contingent on IMC recommendation)— For two weeks in June (dates to be determined) parents and community members can review and provide written input on the recommended materials during normal business hours at the Administration Building.

MEETING SUMMARIES

January 6, 2017
Team members completed EQuIP Rubric for SEPUP and STC. The team unanimously selected STC.

October 11, 2016
Team members discussed field testing and participated in a training webinar.

May 5, 2016
Team members worked with NGSS MS Life Standards to develop a plan for field testing. Teachers reviewed and evaluated curriculum materials, focusing on the “From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes” standards.  

March 25, 2016
Half day was spent with the adoption team.  Materials selection committee members reviewed curriculum materials and submitted questions to vendors.

November 2, 2015
Adoption team received a revised timeline.  Team discussed curriculum requests from all content teachers and the curriculum materials used at neighboring districts.  Several curricular materials were assessed using the PEEC alignment document with varying levels of acceptance.

September 11, 2015
Team members reviewed the Next Generation Science Standards. Team members revised the P-E-E-C alignment tool document to use with curriculum materials.
