Instructional Materials Adoption

An instructional materials review for the full continuum of students consists of:

  • Research review on best practices in the field
  • Alignment of standards and grade level expectations
  • Review of standards-based materials
  • Structured field test of materials
  • Selection of materials
  • Implementation of professional development in the materials, instructional strategies, and assessment
  • Collaboration between and among departments
  • Leveled materials for students performing at all four levels of performance

The implementation of the adoption cycle is dependent on district funding and adequate TLS staff to coordinate the review, and full school and grade level representation on committees.
