2008 Legislative Platform
- Redefine Basic Education (K-12) and fully fund it. Include in the definition four years of science, four years of math, world language fluency and technology.
- Fund longer school days to accommodate the increased requirements in core subjects.
- Fully fund all basic education components, including special education, transportation, and the additional instruction needed in order for all children to pass the WASL, since it is a condition for high school graduation.
- Do not impose further restrictions for the use of I-728 dollars until basic education is fully funded.
- Eliminate the disparities among districts in salary scales and levy lids that result in inequitable state funding and inequitable opportunities for local revenue generation.
- Provide adequate support to ensure success for students in the Passage Point Project (YWCA).
Approved by the Issaquah School District Board of Directors at the November 7, 2007 board meeting.
