The Issaquah School Board's policies are based on good governance practices for all organizations and with advice from policy governance consultants who have worked with school districts across the country.
Some of the revised policies were added to address situations for which there was not adequate board policy guidance in place. Others clarified the board's original intent.
Significant revisions were made to policies affecting the learning environment and the treatment of students, discipline, personnel, administration, the board members' code of conduct, addressing board member violations, the instructional program and providing for an annual report to the public.
Board Ends for Students
The School Board's most important job is to develop a vision, mission, and mission-related statements which clearly establish the desired results for students-the "Ends" for students.
The Board Ends are fluid, always under scrutiny, and always subject to modification.
The Board and Superintendent will develop a monitoring schedule, and the Board will plan a series of opportunities for input from throughout the school community.
