Updates
- November, 2012.
- After 4 meetings, no consensus has been made on whether the home side stadium will be on the east or west side of the field.
- At meeting 4, Skyline Gridiron Members propose Design-Build option stating impression that project can be designed and constructed in a 5 month time frame so that football season can continue without interruption.
- At meeting 4, Skyline Gridiron presents a design for stadium that includes a full basement requiring an elevator which the District and school staff does not want included in the package and stated as early as the first meeting.
- After meeting 4, District puts Bassetti on hold until more information is gathered on Design-Build option.
- District has determined that Design Build is not the most appropriate alternative contracting method for the project. The District has submitted an application to use GC/CM to CPARB. Application presentation will be 11/29/2012.
- Meeting scheduled 11/7 at which time Steve will present GC/CM process and timeline and will review Design-Bid-Build options for Committee consideration.
- Starting 11/8/2012, some Design-Bid-Build options could be completed prior to the 2013 football season. The GC/CM option requires time for the GC/CM selection process. Assuming approval to use GC/CM on 11/29/12. The selection process would be completed in mid-March. Design work could restart at that time with the Hainline & Associates schedule showing substantial completion in mid-January 2013. That schedule requires a winter construction schedule that could add to construction costs.
- August, 2011.
- Lydig has completed the replacement of two speed bumps located at the entry road adjacent to
the Stadium.
- Lydig has installed additional drainage at the ADA stalls nearest to the front entrance.
- ArmorClad is on site doing warranty repairs to the boys and girls locker room floors. Work will
be completed by August 5.

- Capital Projects has submitted final close-out documents to Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer
District.
- Capital Projects has submitted for first review of close-out documents to the City of Sammamish

- Electrical contractor is completing the enegry conservation upgrades.
- ISD submitted paperwork for a PSE energy conservation grant.
- ISD is in the process of submitting paperwork to the Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District and to the City of Sammamish Building Department for final acceptance.

- DW Close is completing retro commissioning work on the commons lights and occupancy sensors

NW/SW & Commons areas: Contractor and subcontractors are proceeding with punch list item. Building commissioning is proceeding. Contractor has begun removing the old wainscot in existing hallways and removed the flooring in front of the theatre in preparation for summer work.
Gymnasium & Weight Room: Contractor and subcontractors are proceeding with punch list item. Building commissioning is proceeding. Training on the bleachers, sound system and lighting is completed.
Locker Rooms: Staff and students are currently using the locker rooms. Contractor is scheduled to install the remaining lockers this week. Contractor and subcontractors are proceeding with punch list item. Building commissioning is proceeding.
3D Art and Black Box: Both spaces are currently completed. The Black Box is currently being used by the drama program.

Site: ATB paving has been laid in the west staff parking lot. Landscaping is going in around the west parking lot and northwest corner of the building. The new storm water system has been cleaned. The existing system is scheduled to be cleaned over summer. Electrical contractor is pulling power and control wire for the parking lot security cameras. Earthwork contractor has completed the removal of the concrete and brick walkway on the east entry plaza. General contractor has begun framing the planter in the east plaza.
NW/SW & Commons areas: General contractor and subcontractors are completing punch list items. Mechanical and electrical commissioning is nearing completion.
Gymnasium & Weight Room: District moved weight equipment into new weight room. Storage rooms adjacent to weight room are ready for use. Flooring company is completing punch list items for the gym floor.
Locker Rooms: Flooring contractor is approximately 85% complete on the installation of the new epoxy flooring. New lockers are installed.
3D Art Room: Walls have been painted. Rollup sectional door has been installed. Light fixtures have been installed. Mechanical ducts have been installed.
Black Box Theatre: Room has been painted black. Theater curtain tracks have been installed. Theater lighting tracks have been installed. Theater room lights have been installed. Cabinets and countertops for the makeup room are completed. Electrical is installing lights in the dressing and makeup rooms. Restroom fixtures are installed. Mechanical ducts have been installed. Electrical has begun trim out.
- March, 2010
Site: Concrete walkway around the north side of the weight room and gymnasium is completed. Earthwork contractor is fine grading the west staff parking lot. Irrigation contractor has started the installation of the irrigation system on the west side adjacent to the staff parking lot.
NW/SW & Commons areas: Contractor is working on punch list items.
Weight Room and Training Rooms: Rooms are scheduled to be turned over to the District by March 3rd. Laundry room floor finish is completed.
Gymnasium and Hallways: Flooring contractor has completed striping the floor and is in the process of applying the second coat of finish. Gymnasium lights are now on site. They will be installed after the floor finish has cured. The delayed light fixtures has delayed school turnover until mid March.
Locker Rooms: Walls are primed. Locker bases have been poured and lockers are being installed. Ceramic tiles in restrooms are completed. Waste water lines are being connected to main line. Electrical and mechanical roughs-in are completed.
Art Room: Structural steel erection is completed. Framing is approx. 75% completed. Sheetrock is approx. 50% completed. Fire sprinkler system is approx. 85% completed. HVAC ducts are installed. Electrical rough-in is completed.
Black Box Theatre: Mechanical and electrical rough-in is completed in the dressing and makeup rooms. Framing and sheetrock is completed in the dressing and makeup rooms. Structural steel erection is completed. Catwalk is completed. Framing and sheetrock for the sound booth is completed.
- November 4
Site: Landscape contractor is installing the irrigation line at the planter located at the parent loop. Earthwork contractor has finished fine grading the area around the parent loop and main building entrance. Concrete contractor has begun pouring the walkway to the main entrance. Trees have been installed along the drive to the parent loop.
NW Area: Flooring contactor has completed installing rubber tile in the lower and main floor classrooms and hallways. Electrical contractor is proceeding with trim work, fire alarm, and pulling power to various locations. Mechanical contractor is working in the penthouse on final connections to the HVAC units and preparing for commissioning. Casework contractor has installed cabinets in all classrooms. They are proceeding with installing window sills and wainscoting in the hallways. Ceiling grid and tiles are being installed at classrooms. Interior sun screens are being installed.
Mechanical is continuing with laying out piping for the HVAC units in the penthouse. Electrical is roughing in conduits and pulling wire for the penthouse HVAC units. They are also proceeding with pulling wire at all floor levels.
SW Area: Electrical contractor is proceeding with the fire alarm installation, trim work, tie-in to mechanical units and pulling power. Cabinets have been installed in the upper classrooms. Window sills and wainscoting is proceeding. Mechanical has completed installation of the HVAC units and is preparing for commissioning. Ceiling grid and tiles are being installed in offices and classrooms. Interior sun screens are installed at the lower and main offices.
Commons: The temporary wall at the upper level has been removed. Visqueen has been installed as a temporary dust barrier. Ceiling grid has been installed at the upper level. Mechanical, electrical and general contractors are nearing completion of the upper restrooms. Electrical is continuing with pulling power, fire alarm and trim work. Mechanical is installing the flex duct to supply grilles.
Gymnasium: Roofing is approximately 80 percent completed. Sheet metal contractor is nearing completion of installing the exterior metal panels. Application of the weather barrier is nearing completion. Masons have competed the brick wall on the west side of the gymnasium. They are currently setting up scaffolding on the east side. Interior wall framing is completed at the weight room and mechanical room. Mechanical has completed rough-in of below grade waste lines and is proceeding with above grade venting and plumbing. Electrical contractor has begun rough-in of conduits at the weight room. Electrical rough-in at the gymnasium is completed.
- October 14
Site: Landscape contractor has compelted placing trees along 8th street. New plants are going in at the student parking lot islands. Contractor is in the process of fine grading the parent drop off loop in preparation for ATB.
NW Area: Painting contractor is has completed painting and applying wall covering in classrooms and hallways. Drywallers have completed applying plaster veneer finish at all the stairwells. Casework contractor has completed installing cabinets. They are installing the epoxy countertops to the cabinets in the science rooms. The interior sun screens are being installed in the lower science rooms.
Mechanical is continuing with laying out piping for the HVAC units in the penthouse. Electrical is roughing in conduits and pulling wire for the penthouse HVAC units. They are also proceeding with pulling wire at all floor levels.
SW Area: Drywallers have completed placing plaster veneer finish at the stairwells. Painting contractor has completed painting and applying wall covering in classrooms, hallways and offices. Electrical is proceeding with rough-in and wire pulling in various areas. The interior sun screens are being installed in the lower offices.
Commons: Dropped ceiling grid is going in at all floor levels. Drywallers have compelted with placing plaster veneer finish at the stairwell.
Gymnasium/Weight Room: Interior and exterior metal wall framing is completed at the gymnasium and approximately 80 percent completed in the weight room. Built-up roof at the gymnasium is completed. They have begun roofing at the weight room. Application of the water barrier on the exterior gymnasium walls is approximately 85 percent completed. Sheet Metal contractor has begun installing the exterior metal panel at the gymnasium. Electrical and mechanical subgrade rough is contiuning in the weight room areas.
100 & 700 Areas: Electrical rework is 90 percent completed. Mechanical rework is completed.
200 and 800 Areas: Electrical rework is 90 percent completed.
- September 9. Site: Earthwork contractor is approximatley 100 percent completed with the installation of the storm water detention system. Landscape contractor has placed trees along the site entrance off of 228th. New plants are giong in at the student parking lot islands. They are continuing with installation of sleeves for the irrigation system at the student parking lot. The second asphalt lift has been placed at two parking lots. CDC Construction has completed placing asphalt for the new right hand turn off of 8th street to the student parking lot. Sidewalks and curbs have been poured along 8th street and walkways in the student parking lot. Rough grading for the parent drop off is 50 percent completed.
Northwest Area: Painting contractor is in the process of painting and applying wall covering io classrooms and hallways. Drywallers are proceeding with placing plaster veneer finish at the stairwells. The temporary construction partition has been removed between the new area and existing classroom areas. New ceiling and lights have been installed in these areas allowing student and staff access. Casework contractor has begun installing cabinets in the lower floor classrooms. Mechanical is continuing with laying out piping for the HVAC units in the penthouse. Electrical is roughing in conduits and pulling wire for the penthouse HVAC units. They are also proceeding with pulling wire at all floor levels. Sheetmetal contractor is installing downspouts. Installation of metal panels on the east side is completed. Low voltage contractor has begun installing data and phone cableing. Firesprinkler contractor has completed installation of the fire sprinkler lines.
Southwest Area: Drywallers are proceeding with placing plaster veneer finish at the stairwells. Painting contractor is in the process of painting and applying wall covering in classrooms, hallways and offices. Electrical is proceeding with rough-in and wire pulling in various areas. Aluminum window installation at classrooms is completed. Firesprinkler contractor has completed installation of the fire sprinkler lines.
Commons: Dropped ceiling grid is going in at all floor levels. Drywallers are proceeding with placing plaster veneer finish at the stairwells. Ironworkers are erecting steel beams and columns for the DECA roof area.
Gymnasium/Weight Room: Erection of structural steel and metal decking is completed at the gym. Steel erection for the weight room is completed. Metal roof decking for the gym and weight room is completed. Drywall contractor is completed with framing and they are 95 percent completed with the exterior sheathing at the gym. Electrical and mechanical subgrade rough has begun for the new restrooms.
100 and 700 Areas: The new teaching walls are completed. Electrical rework is 90 percent completed. Mechanical rework is completed.
200 and 800 Areas: Framing for the teaching walls is completed.

Site: Sidewalks and curbs have been poured along the main entrance and along the student entrance off 8th street up to the front of the Stadium entrance. Earthwork contractor is approximately 75% completed with the installation of the storm water detention system. They have installed the pre-settling tank and the diverter catch basin. Landscape contractor has completed the removal of the existing asphalt for new planter islands in the student parking lot. They have installed sleeves for the irrigation system at the main entrance and sprinkler lines. CDC Construction has begun grubbing and rough grading along 8th Street.
Northwest Area: Aluminum window installation at classrooms is completed. The window installers are placing glazing panels into the curtainwall on the north side. Painting contractor is in the process of painting and applying wall covering on the lower and main floors. Painter is in the process of applying a primer coat on the upper floor. Drywall contractor is proceeding with taping and sheetrocking at the transition areas between the NW and SW areas at each floor. Mechanical is continuing with laying out the HVAC units ad ductwork in the penthouse. Sheetmetal contractor has completed the installation of the exterior metal panels at the penthouse, north, and west walls. They are in the process of installing metal panels on the east side. Electrical is proceeding with rough-in and wire pulling. Low voltage contractor has begun installing data/phone cable. Dropped ceiling grid is going in at the lower floor. Roofing over NW area is completed.
Southwest Area: Drywall contractor has completed the sheetrocking all floors. They are in the process of taping and mudding. Mechancial has completed installing ducts at all floors and placing the HVAC units in the mechanical room. Electrical is proceeding with rough-in and wire pulling in various areas. Aluminum window installation at classrooms is completed. Roofing over SW area is completed.
Commons: Framing for the new DECA store is completed. The storefront windows are installed at the lower and upper floors. Dropped ceiling grid is going in at the upper level. Roofing over the commons area is completed. Drywall contractor is in the process of adding furring channels to the concrete masonry walls in the stairwell.
Gymnasium/Weight Room: Erection of structural steel and metal decking is completed at the gym. The old training room has been demolished. Steel erection for the weight room has begun. Electrical and mechanical subgrade rough has begun.
100 and 700 Areas: Carpeting has been removed in classrooms and hallways. Installation of the micropiles is completed. Foundations for the new seismic walls have been poured. Two shotcrete walls are completed. Framing for the other shotcrete walls are underway. Framing for the teaching walls has begun as well as electrical rough-in.
200 and 800 Areas: Framing for the teaching walls has begun.
- June 30. Site: Sidewalks and curbs are being poured along the main entrance and along the student entrance off 8th street. The walkway in front of the stadium entrance is approximately 80% completed. Earthwork contractor has saw cut the middle parking lot in preparation for installing the storm water detention system. Landscape contractor is working the north student parking lot in the process of removing existing asphalt for new planter islands.
Northwest Area: Window installation is completed. Painting contractor has begun on the lower floor. Drywall contractor is proceeding with taping and sheetrocking on the main and upper floor. Mechanical has begun laying out the HVAC units in the penthouse. Sheetmetal contractor has completed the installation of the exterior metal panels at the penthouse and has started installing metal panels on the exterior walls. Electrical is proceeding with rough-in and wire pulling.
Southwest Area: Drywall contractor has installed insulation and vapor barrier in the exterior walls. Sheetrocking has begun at the lower floor. Mechancial is installing ducts at the upper floor and doing miscellaneous rough-in work throughout the SW area. Electrical is proceeding with rough-in and wire pulling in various areas. Window installer is approximately 85% completed. Roofing over the SW area is nearing completion.
Commons: Framing for the new DECA store is completed. Roofing over the Commons area is nearing completion.
Gymnasium: Erection of structural steel is completed. Metal roof decking is approximately 65% complete. Demolition work has begun in the training room and adjacent hallway.
100 and 700 areas: In preparation for the micro piles, walls and the concrete slab have been removed. Carpeting has been removed in designated classrooms and hallways.
- June 10. Site: Earthwork contractor has excavated for foundation footings for the new gymnasium and weight room. Rockery is completed along the student entry off 8th street.
Northwest Area: The water and air barrier has been applied to the outside face of the exterior sheathing. Windows are being installed at the lower level. Framing of interior walls is completed. Mechianical and electrical contractors are proceeding with rough-in work. Electrical contractor has started pulling wiring. Fireproofing of structural members is completed. General contractor is in the procees of installing the concrete precast stair treads in the north stairwell. Masonry walls are completed. Roofer is approximately 95 percent completed.
Southwest Area: Framer has completed with interior and exterior walls at the upper level. Roofer is approximately 85 percent completed. Electrical contractor has started pulling wire. General contractor has completed installing the concrete precast landings at the stairwell.
Commons: Structural framing for the stairwell is completed. Roofing trusses and metal decking is completed. Framers have begun erecting exterior and interior walls. Electrical rough-in for the student store is completed.
- May 20. Site: Earthwork contractor has installed the new stormline in the existing student parking lot. They are currently grading for the new rockery along the student entry drive off 8th street.
Northwest Area: Mechanical and electrical contractors are proceeding with rough-in of plumbing, conduits and ducts on the main and upper floors. The insulation contractor has started insulating the domestic water pipes. The drywallers are proceeding with framing the dropped ceilings in the classrooms and hallways. Fireproofers are working on the upper floor.
Southwest Area: Mechanical and electrical contractors are proceeding with rough-in of plumbing, conduits and ducts on the lower and main floors. Drywallers are framing the exterior walls of the upper floor.Contractor has started installing the concrete precast stair treads for the SW stairwell.
Commons: Contractor has started to erecting the stair stringers for the commons stairwell. Roof beams and trusses have been installed.
- May 13. Northwest Area: Roofing contractor is approximately 85 percent completed. Electrical and mechanical contractors are proceeding with rough-in of conduits, plumbing and ductwork. They are focused on the main floor level. The lower floor is approximately 85percent completed with rough-in. Drywall contractor is continuing with framing of exterior and interior walls on the upper floor. They have begun sheathing the interior walls of the electrical panel rooms and mechanical shafts. They are approximately 95 percent completed with installing the exterior sheathing. Fireproofing of structural members is approximately 95 percent completed. Fire sprinkler contractor is continuing with rough-in on the main floor.
Southwest Area: Drywall contractor has completed framing of the exterior and interior walls of the lower floor. They are approximately 90 percent completed with exterior and interior framing of the main floor. They have begun framing exterior and walls on the upper floor. Electrical and mechanical contractors have begun rough-in for conduit, plumbing and ductwork on the lower and main floors. The stairwell between the NW and SW areas has been installed. Fireproofing is completed on the lower and main floors. Fire sprinkler contractor has begun rough-in of the trunk line on the lower and main floors.
Commons: The electrical and mechanical contractors have completed rough-in of in slab conduits and plumbing for the upper floor. The slab on metal deck for the upper floor has been poured. Roof trusses are scheduled for erection later this week.
- April 28. Northwest Area: Electrical and mechanical contractors are proceeding with rough-in of conduit, plumbing and ductwork on the main floor. Electrical contractor has started pulling wire on the lower floor. Drywall contractor is proceeding with erecting exterior stud walls on the upper floor. They have begun sheathing the exterior. Fireproofing company is proceeding on the exterior and upper floor. Roofing contractor has completed the penthouse roof and is approximately 70 percent complete with the upper roof. Fire sprinkler contractor is approximately 85 percent complete with main and secondary lines on the lower floor.
Southwest/Commons Area: Steel for the SW area upper floor and roof are completed. Drywall contractor is approximately 90 percent completed with interior and exterior stud framing for the lower floor. Contractor is installing floor track on the main floor. General contractor is installing the hollow metal door frames on the main floor. Electrical contractor has begun installing the overhead primary conduits. Fire sprinkler contractor has begun installing the main trunk line on the lower floor.
Commons: The commons upper floor structural steel members are complete. Concrete floor for the commons is completed.
- April 14. Northwest Area: Fire sprinkler contractor has begun installing sprinkler lines on the lower floor. Drywall contractor is proceeding with erecting interior and exterior stud walls on the main and upper floors. The penthouse framing is approximately 95 percent completed. Roofing contractor has begun staging materials in preparation to start roofing on April 15th. Electrical and Mechanical contractors are proceeding with rough-in of conduits, domestic water and waste pipes and ductwork. Fireproofing of structural members is proceeding, they are approximately 85 percent completed.
Southwest Area: Ironworkers are near completion with the erection of the upper floor steel and roof trusses for the SW Area. They have begun erecting the steel for the SW area stairwell. General contractor is preparing to pour the concrete slab for the main and upper floors later this week. Electrical contractor has begun rough-in of conduits and the mechanical contractor has begun rough-in of waste lines at the upper floor level.
Commons: Ironworkers have begun installing stiffeners to the existing columns.
- April 7. Drywall contractor is proceeding with interior and exterior partitions on the main, upper and penthouse levels. Mechanical contractor has begun installing hot and cold water lines for the lower floor science rooms and continuation of the plumbing rough-in for lower floor science rooms. HVAC contractor has begun installing ducts in the lower floor classrooms. Electrical contractor is proceeding with rough-in of conduit at the lower floor. Mason has completed the Commons stairwell. Earthwork contractor has excavated footings for the Commons exterior wall and retaining wall and pad for the chiller. Ironworkers are approximately 50 percent complete with the erection of the SW area.
- March 31. Interior and exterior wall partitions are approximately 95 percent complete in the NW area lower floor and approximately 50 percent complete on the main floor. Electrical contractor and mechanical contractor have begun rough-in of conduits and plumbing pipes in walls on the lower floor of the NW area. Masons have completed laying CMU for the SW stairwell and are nearing completion on the Commons stairwell. Earthwork contractor is installing the footing drain around the NW and SW areas. Ironworkers have begun erecting steel for the SW area. Fireproofing has been sprayed and completed on the lower and main floors.
- March 17. The concrete floor at the SW Area lower floor and the penthouse mechanical pads have been poured. Mechanical contractor is procceding with work in the mechanical mezzanine. Electrical contractor is installing underslab conduit in the SW area. Earthwork contractor is proceeding with installing storm draininage pipes and catch basins. Ironworkers are erecting columns in the lower SW Area and miscellaneous steel in the NW area. As the weather has warmed to above freezing, fireproofing is being sprayed on to the structural steel on the lower floor of the NW Area. Masonry contractor is working on both the SW and Commons stairwells. Drywall contractor is procceding with installing the top track for walls and laying out locations for future walls.
- March 11. Steel erectors are continuing with placement of the metal roof deck. They have begun erecting columns in the lower floor of the SW classroom area. The concrete floor for the penthouse mechanical room has been poured. Drywall contractor has begun installing the top plate for the exterior walls on the lower and main floors. Earthwork contractor is continuing with the installation of the storm drainage system. Mechanical contractor is continuing with the installation of the hydronic piping system in the mechanical mezzanine and with rough-in of under slab plumbing in the SW classroom area. Electrical contractor is in the process of pulling wire out to the mechanical mezzanine and is working on rough-in work for under slab conduits in the SW classroom area. Masonry contractor has erected a mechanical lift system around the commons stairwell in preparation for laying the CMU walls.
- March 4. Roof trusses and metal decking are being placed in the NW classroom area. Welders are continuing with welding connection points between cross braces and columns. They have begun erecting columns on the lower floor of the SW classroom area. They will continue with this work next week. The concrete floor for the lower and main floors has been poured. Contractor is scheduled to pour the upper floor on March 6th. Earthwork contractor is proceeding with the installation of the storm drainage system. Mechanical and electrical contractors are proceeding with roughing-in waste lines and conduits on the upper and penthouse floors. Mason contractor has completed laying concrete masonry units at the lower floor of the SW classroom area. Drywall contractor has begun installing metal wall studs along the perimeter edge on the main floor. They will move down to the lower floor next week.
- February 25. Erection of steel in the NW classroom area is approximately 90% completed. Bar joists have been placed for the mechanical penthouse roof. Metal decking for the main and upper floor is completed. Welders are working on welding the connection points between the cross braces and columns. Nelson studs used for additional support for the concrete slabs on metal decking have been installed for the main and upper floors. The concrete floor has been poured at the NE corner of the lower floor. Electrical contractor is proceeding with placing conduit on the metal decking of the upper floor. Mechanical contractor has completed the installation of the acid waste lines on the lower floor and is currently laying out waste vent lines from the lower floor to the upper floor. The earthwork contractor is continuing with the installation of the storm drainage pipe in the west parking lot adjacent to the locker rooms. Mason contractor is laying concrete masonry units for the new stairwell in the commons area.
- February 17. Steel erection has progressed to the west section of the NW classroom area. Steel has been placed for the main and upper floor and mechanical penthouse. Steel decking is approximately 60 percent completed. The new retaining wall for the stairwell has been poured and waterproofing is being applied. Earthwork contractor has extended the watermain to the existing irrigation system. Five storm water catch basins have been installed and connected to the existing storm system in the student parking lot. The capillary fill for under the concrete floor slab is being placed in the NW classroom area. The mechanical contractor is proceeding with connecting the hydronic pipes in the gym corridor to the heating and chilling pumps located in the mechanical mezzanine. The electrical contractor is working on laying out conduits in the existing building for connection to the new addition.
- February 10. Steel erection is continuing in the east section of the NW classroom area. Steel has been placed for the the main and upper level. General contractor has completed pouring of the concrete footings in the SW area and is framing for the new retaining wall for the stairwell. The mechancial contractor has completed installation of the below grade domestic waste lines in the SW area. They completed installation of the isolation pads and have mechanically fastened the heating and chilling pumps to the pads and have begun installation of the piping. The electrical contractor has begun laying out under slab conduits in the NW and SW areas and installed the variable frequency drives in the mechancial mezzanine. The earthwork contractor has completed the installation of three catch basins in the north student parking lot. They are in the procees of backfilling around the footings in the SW area. The wireless thermostats have been installed. The district is currently working with the controls contractor to commission the system and perform a confidence test within the next 2 weeks.
- February 3. Steel erection is continuing in the NW classroom area. They have begun placing the metal floor decking for the main floor. General contractor is proceeding with forming foundation footings for the new stairwell and retaining wall between the NW and SW classroom areas. The mechanical contractor has completed the installation of the below grade domestic waste line and acid waste line in the NW area. They are currently working in the mechanical mezzanine installing isolation pads for the heating and cooling pumps. The electrical contractor is installing conduit in the mechanical mezzanine, as well as, wiring for the irrigation system from the existing boiler room. Earthwork contractor has been excavating for foundation footings and has begun installing catch basins adjacent to the SW classroom area and future north entrance plaza. The controls contractor has completed the installation of the wireless thermostats. The system is now operational. Until the control system has been confidence tested, custodial staff will continue monitoring building temperatures prior to leaving the building each night and again upon their arrival at 5.00 a.m.
- January 29. Structural steel began arriving this week. Steel erection started 1/28/09 with the crew setting about 50 columns and beams. Power grid outages and spikes have disrupted the HVAC control system several times leaving substantial portions of the building without heat. Work by the District, consultants, the contractor and subcontractors has restored full HVAC control system operation to all areas except the 700 and 900 areas. These areas should be back on-line and communicating with the Maintenance Department monitoring station by 1/31/09. Until the control system is fully operation and confidence tested, custodial staff are monitoring building temperatures prior to leaving the building each night and again upon their arrival at 5.00 a.m. This should allow placement of temporary heat in rooms that appear to have a problem until the Maintenance Department can restore heat to any problem area.
- January 27. Five double trailer loads of steel have arrived, meaning construction of the new academic wing will begin soon! Demolition of all areas of the building slated for a rebuild is complete.
- January 13. The footings have been poured for the class wing addition. Final demolition is underway. We are awaiting the first structural steel shipment.
