Middle and High School Education

The Department of Middle School Education and the Department of High School Education make up the Department of Secondary Education.

The Department of Middle School Education provides supervision of middle schools, general support for middle school programs and helps with middle schools policies and procedures. Department staff provides guidance for parents and assists with questions about Issaquah's middle school programs including Advanced Language Arts and Independent Health and PE.

The Department of High School Education provides supervision of high schools and general support for high school programs. This includes Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate, state attendance compliance, student discipline consultation and discipline records, curriculum implementation, credit retrieval programs (secondary summer school, Night Academy, GED), foreign exchange students, High School Graduation Requirements, Running Start, Athletic programs (see Student Athletic Handbook) and WIAA compliance.

The Department of High School Education is available to help with high school policies and procedures, to provide guidance for parents, and to assist with questions about Issaquah's high school programs. Executive Director of High Schools Michelle Trifunovic oversees the Department of High School Education.
