Issaquah schools will be closed
again Friday, Jan. 12. Transportation employees drove throughout the District
this afternoon to assess the situation. Although some main streets were easily
navigable, most roads from the Sammamish Plateau through the south-end of the
District remained iced over. With plummeting temperatures tonight, any roads
with remaining precipitation will again freeze and become dangerous. Forecasters
predict temperatures will be in the teens tonight and will not climb above
freezing until the weekend.
All school activities, including
School Age Care, and facility rentals are also cancelled.
Please continue to check the
District's homepage, www.issaquah.wednet.edu, for
updates.
This will be the sixth day schools
have been closed due to snow and wind this school year. We know many students,
parents, and staff members are anxious about the make-up days, but student
safety has to be our first priority every time we gauge weather conditions after
a storm.
Thank
you.
