interview candidates
for the open Board seat? Do not fret—you can hear the entire
question-and-answer session online. The
Board will vote on which candidate to appoint at its regular business meeting
on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
- Six—six!!—Issaquah
teachers recently earned National Board
Certification, one of the highest
awards for professional excellence in teaching. This is the only
credential process that compares a teacher’s knowledge and skills with a
national set of professional standards.

Community High School seniors are busy preparing culminating projects,
and they need volunteers to help watch and evaluate their final presentations
on Wednesday, Feb. 7, and Thursday, Feb. 8. This is a great chance for all
community members to discover the dreams and tenacity of District graduates.

than 500 parents who took the survey to provide input for the elementary math adoption. Results—along
with the process’ timeline, frequently asked questions, and other
resources—are now online.
- Washington
schools do more with less! Despite placing 46th in the nation
in class size and 42nd in spending per student, Education Week’s
just-released “Quality Counts 2007”
report ranks our state fourth on its K-12 Achievement Index; this
evaluates the states “based on their levels of performance and improvements
over time.” The state-by-state assessment of public education is online.
