Pine Lake Middle School nominated as 2006 Blue Ribbon School

Yesterday Superintendent Janet Barry learned from officials in Olympia that Pine Lake Middle School has been nominated for a top national honor.  Pine Lake is one of seven schools in the state to be officially in the running for national Blue Ribbon recognition.

Last year Liberty High School students, staff, and community members experienced the power of two rounds of Challenge Days. On November 1, 2, 3, and 4 this year, Challenge Days returns again to Liberty, and organizers are recruiting community adults to take part.

Liberty’s Challenge Days events need adult volunteers. “Volunteering involves one very intense day interacting with students and other adults, learning about yourself and others, and taking steps to change the world around you,” said Spanish teacher Andrea Hillman who brought the program to Liberty last year.

You can sign up for the experience or learn more about it by e-mailing Ms. Hillman at hillmana@issaquah.wednet.edu or calling 425.837.4854.

Volunteers are needed for the District Nutrition Procedures Committee.   The committee will meet this fall through February and then twice each year thereafter.   Six community slots are available.  Contact christensc@issaquah.wednet.edu for full details or to submit your name for consideration.
