Subject: Bond and levy, graduation, emergencies and more

 

  • After nine months of study and review, multiple public meetings, and several tours of district schools, the Bond and Levy Scope Committee made its final recommendation to the Issaquah School Board on October 12.   The board has established February 7, 2006 as the election date for four ballot issues.

 

  • Correction!  Two separate types of parent information nights are scheduled for this month and next. 

 

Middle school math nights are next Monday, October 17 (7 – 8:30 pm at Beaver Lake Middle School) and Tuesday, October 18 (7 – 8:30 pm at Maywood Middle School)

 

Middle school science nights are in November – Thursday, November 10 at Pine Lake Middle School (7 – 8:30 pm) and Tuesday, November 29 at Issaquah Middle School (7 – 8:30 pm).

 

  • PTSA invites you to a Regional Legislative Roundtable, Tuesday November 8 (yes, that is election day!)  7 – 9 pm at Sammamish High School, 100 140th Ave SE in BellevueWashington State legislators and candidates from the 5th, 32nd, 39th, 41st, 45th, and 48th Legislative Districts have been invited to attend.  Residents and parents of the Bellevue, Issaquah, Lake Washington, Mercer Island, Riverview, and Snoqualmie school districts will meet and talk with elected officials and candidates.

 

  • Are you ready?  Expected to be the largest and most comprehensive emergency preparedness event ever held in the area, Are You Ready? is open to the public and brings together experts who possess the knowledge to keep us informed, safe and alive in the case of an emergency.  Friday and Saturday, October 21 and 22 at Seattle Center Exhibition Hall.

 

  • Do you live with someone due to graduate from high school in 2008?  Check your mailbox! This month, a series of postcards about the new graduation requirements and the need for all students to make the most of their high school years will be sent to more than 140,000 Washington residents, including all families with students in the class of 2008, the first class that must meet the new requirements.
