Subject: Are you ready for weather-related school delays?
Are
you ready for weather-related school delays? Here are some tools to
help:
·
If you are a
district parent, watch your Post Office mail for the 2005-2006
Emergency Transportation Bulletin. That document, categorized by
district region, outlines what happens to every school program if school is
delayed by weather situations. It also explains what happens to bus
specific bus stops during inclement weather. You can download extra
copies from the link above.
·
To understand
how and when weather-related delay decisions are made, check out Weather-related
schedule changes…who decides? When? How? This explains when you can
expect to begin hearing about school delays and where that information will be
available.
·
Basic emergency
preparedness information for families and neighborhoods is also available.
The
2004-2005 school year weather was mild. As a result, there was no
instance last year of district-wide school delays or closures. The
weather predictions this year indicate more turbulent weather and, therefore,
the possibility that school schedules could be impacted.
