Curriculum news:

·         The Boundary Review Committee met for the first time this Wednesday. Committee members introduced themselves and received background information about how the District collects enrollment, capacity, and growth-projection data. Committee members will begin the process of looking at current and possible future boundaries at their next meeting on Wednesday, March 5. How can community members stay updated? Look for meeting dates, agendas, summaries, and minutes online; come to committee meetings, which are all open to the public; view the entire notebook of data available to committee members during committee meetings or during business hours at the Administration Building; and fill out comment cards at the committee meetings or e-mail brc@issaquah.wednet.edu—that feedback will be disseminated to the whole committee.

·        Thank you for your patience as we awaited resolution about our supply of beef. After an extensive investigation by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and our food supplier, we ended up discarding 60 cases of beef from our school kitchens after the meat was recalled last week. While USDA officials believe this beef posed little or no health threat, they took precautionary action through the recall.

·        Calling all kindergartners: Please let all families with kindergarten-aged children that registration is March 5 and 6 at all elementary schools.

·        School Snapshots: Add it up:  mentors + math = success for kids!

·        Passage Point community meeting: The YWCA invites you to see the plans for its Passage Point project and ask questions of the architect from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Maple Hills Elementary, 15644 204th Ave. S.E., Renton. YWCA Regional Director Linda Rasmussen will also be on hand to provide information. Passage Point is a project to convert a vacant rehabilitation facility near Maple Valley into supportive housing for single parents who are reuniting with their children after a period of incarceration or treatment. The Issaquah School District will educate the children living at Passage Point. For more information, contact Linda Rasmussen at 425-226-1266 ext. 1018.
