·         The Issaquah School Board will meet in a work-study session about the elementary math adoption at 5:30 p.m. next Wednesday, March 28, at the Administration Building, 565 N.W. Holly St. Teachers on the selection committee will explain why Everyday Math is the program they have chosen for in-depth review and provide lesson examples and data. Board members will then hold their business meeting at 7 p.m., and they might go into executive session if their search firm brings forward any superintendent candidates for consideration.

The Board will also hold a work retreat from noon to 8 p.m. at a conference room at the Puget Sound Education Service District, 800 Oakesdale Ave. S.W., Renton. The Board will focus on Policy Governance tasks and the Board work calendar.

·         All Issaquah students can still submit art for the 2007-08 Issaquah Schools Foundation/District calendar. This calendar is sent to every District resident and staff member—and proudly displayed on their walls!

·         The state this week released Issaquah’s 2006 Healthy Youth Survey results, which will continue to shape the policies, programs, and grant dollars that local service providers use to help students.

·         Be a part of history: The King County Council invites all students in seventh, eighth, and ninth grade to help name the county’s new office building in downtown Seattle.

·         Speaking of burgeoning artists, Issaquah middle- and high-school student artwork will be showcased from 6-9 p.m. Friday, April 6, at the Historic Train Depot, 50 Rainier Blvd. N., Issaquah. The open house—which will include music from the District’s Evergreen Philharmonic Orchestra—is part of non-profit ArtEAST’s ongoing promotion of local art. The art mediums range from watercolor to acrylic to glass.
