·        At their March 22 meeting, Issaquah School Board members approved a new nutrition policy – a document and process recommended by a committee that began meeting in November last year.

·        The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has recently added two new parent resource sections to their website:

1.      One, about WASL, includes frequently asked questions and even sample test questions.

2.      The second, launched late last Friday, helps clarify state graduation requirements for the class of 2008 and beyond.  Issaquah School District’s requirements are in synch with the state’s but the terminology is different.  So be sure to check out the district’s explanation of graduation requirements and then click on the yellow box for more information from the state.

·        Helping students explore career possibilities is a key element of the new graduation requirements.  Businesses that allow students to “shadow” people in a real on-the-job experience are invaluable assets in the getting-to-graduation process.  Read about a specific shadowing experience and how to have a student shadow in your business.

·        Talk about getting job experience!  Liberty High School’s Culinary Arts students are two time winners at the Washington Restaurant Association’s Hospitality Invitational, and their teacher Lisa Phillips was named 2006 Outstanding Teacher of the year!

·        When you go to bed on Saturday night on April 1, turn your clock ahead an hour.  No fooling!  It’s really Daylight Savings Time again.   Learn more about Daylight Savings Time.

·        Remember, spring break is the week of April 10 through April 14.

·        Volunteer opportunity for those who treasure the environment. April 29 and May 6.
