Subject: Weather alert, Skyline principal announcement, Humanities Plus, F amily Access, and more

·                 Wind, snow, and rain are among the weather conditions predicted for the region between now and Friday.  Tune in on school mornings to media reports, and watch the website for announcements about potential school closures or delays for Thursday, March 9 or Friday, March 10.

·                    Skyline High School Principal Ed Young will remain in that position another year!  As a retired school principal, Young’s employment status is year-to-year.  In her announcement of the District’s offer to Young, and his acceptance, Superintendent Janet Barry credited him for leadership and direction and the relationships he has built with students, staff, and the community in just one year.

Registration for Humanities Plus as a 6th grader next year will take place only during one of the four meetings.  Families may attend any one of the meetings listed below.

·        Wednesday, March 15 6:30 – 8:30 pm, in Beaver Lake Middle School Commons

·        Wednesday, March 29 6:30 – 8:30 in Pine Lake Middle School Commons

·        Thursday, March 30 6:30 – 8:30 in Issaquah Middle School Commons

·        Wednesday, April 5 6:30 – 8:30 in Maywood Middle School  Commons

·        Parents, have you checked your on-line Family Access account lately?  Launched last fall as a communication link with K-12 families, Family Access allows parents to check student attendance and final semester and trimester grades.  It contains each student’s unique State Student Identifier number – a number that will be increasingly important for student record storage and retrieval.

Family Access records student residence and the emergency contacts parents have designated as “who to call” in times of urgent need.  If your contact information is wrong or has changed, the school won’t know who to call when you most need that call.

Please check the e-mail address on record in Family Access.  Plans are in the works to use those e-mail addresses more frequently and systematically to touch base with you about school issues and news you need.

If you’ve not looked at Family Access recently, please do so by:

1.      Going to the district website at www.issaquah.wednet.edu.

2.      Click on the Family Access link on the left hand menu.

3.      Enter your login information.  (If you don’t have login information, contact your school registrar or secretary)

·        Where Are You Going? A Guide to Careers and Training in Washington State 2005 provides some answers for students trying to make future career decisions.  The 158-page booklet offers parents and students the latest information on more than 400 occupations, what they pay, and the training programs available, all in one publication. Information also includes location and contact information for over 425 colleges, universities, private career schools, or community and technical colleges that offer degrees or training in a specific field.

The booklet is available in pdf format at www.wtb.wa.gov or for a free copy order online at
