A message to Issaquah School District E-News subscribers from Superintendent Janet Barry:

 

Elementary enrollment growth is continuing at a pace that requires additional classrooms – sooner rather than later – in most of the District’s Sammamish Plateau elementaries and Issaquah Highlands.  Therefore, September 2006 is the opening date for Elementary #14 in Issaquah Highlands.

 

The timeline for Elementary 14 includes the following key dates:

 

• Selection of planning principal by May 15, 2005
• District call for construction bids by May 30, 2005
• Groundbreaking for new school by July 15, 2005
• School opening September 2006

 

A boundary review process, to be announced within the next several weeks, will be designed to (a) balance enrollments across all elementary schools now experiencing overcrowding, and (b) ensure that families face one change in the foreseeable future as we bring the new elementary school on line.
