- Whether students hide
them or hang them on the refrigerator—report cards are an important tool for
parents to keep updated about their child’s academic progress. A group has
recently formed to suggest revisions to the current elementary report card.
Elementary parents’ feedback is vital to this process, and they are invited to
give their opinion via an online survey
through 4 p.m. Monday, June 12.
- There is such a thing
as a free lunch—and it comes with free
preschool in the Head Start
Program. Income-eligible families need to apply now for the
2006-07 school year. Head Start is a government program that provides free
preschool, hot meals, health-screening, and more to children; and support
services, education, job training, and more to parents. For information and to
enroll, contact the district’s Head Start program, located at Apollo
Elementary, at 425-837-7523. Please spread the word.
- What? It’s not even
summer break, and we’re asking parents of ELEMENTARY students to think about
going back to school in the fall? YES! Please watch for the lime green “nose count” cards that will
arrive in your mail box in July.
Your verification is the way we make sure we have enough teachers and supplies
and that your child’s name appears on a class list on the first day of school.
Middle and high school students will verify their attendance at Back to
Business Days later this summer.
- Sophomores will
receive their scores from this springs’ Washington Assessment of Student
Learning (WASL) within the next two weeks. We recently sent home a letter to
all parents of sophomores with information about state graduation requirements
(all students beginning in 2008 must meet standard on the WASL, among other
things) and a sample score report. All parents can view the contents
of the letter and get more WASL and graduation
information online.
- Our staff is
the best! Come applaud just some of the individuals who go above and beyond
every day, making sure our students are prepared for their futures. This
year’s Chain
of Achievement and Catalyst
award winners will be
honored at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at the Administrative
Services Center, 565 N.W.
Holly St.
