·        Issaquah Valley Elementary Principal Sheryl Belt announced today that she has accepted the principalship at Cascade Ridge Elementary beginning July 1. She looks forward to the new challenge and feels honored to have grown so much professionally and personally during the past four years– thanks to the Issaquah Valley community. The District is moving quickly in its IVE principal replacement search. A letter with more information will be sent home with students at Cascade Ridge and Issaquah Valley Elementary on Monday.

·        New on the web: The April EL-2 monitoring report in which Superintendent Janet Barry outlines how she has met the Board’s expectations regarding treatment of people.

·        Looking for a few good volunteers! An elementary parent representative from the Liberty High School attendance area and a secondary parent representative from the Issaquah High School attendance area are needed next year for the District Advisory Team.  The DAT, composed of staff, parents, students, and community representatives, discusses educational issues that concern the ability of the District to achieve its mission.

·        The Issaquah Optimist Club is hosting its first-annual Bike Safety Fair from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Issaquah Valley Elementary, 555 N.W. Holly St. Families who cannot afford a bicycle helmet for children will be provided with one. Children can participate in fun and safety-oriented bicycle activities, such as tackling obstacle courses. Police officers and firefighters will roam the crowd, participants can register bicycles in case they are ever lost or stolen, and bike tune ups and inspections will be available. Admission is free, but non-perishable food donations are being accepted for the Issaquah Valley Food Bank.
