- The
Issaquah School Board on June 28 voted to build a new middle school to serve
students in the district’s corridor and Sammamish Plateau areas, turning down
Superintendent Janet Barry’s recommendation to instead reconfigure Pacific
Cascade Freshmen Campus (PCFC).
- The District welcomes
Sharon
Manion as the new director of
assessment. Sharon comes with 12 years of administrative
experience overseeing curriculum and assessment. Most recently, she was served
as director of learning and teaching in the Tukwila School District for six
years.
- Who says you have to
wait for October for things to get a little spooky? The
Issaquah History Museum presents Ghost
Stories, a free, fun, and thrilling installment of its Summer
History Program, at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at the Issaquah Depot,
50 Rainier Blvd.
N. The Washington State Paranormal Investigation
Researchers will report findings after checking Gilman Town
Hall, Issaquah Depot, and Auto Freight Building for any signs of the
paranormal. Refreshments will be served.
- Issaquah School Board member
Larry Ishmael recently announced
his intention to challenge Democratic Congressman Jay Inslee in the 1st
District for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Ishmael plans to
soon move out of the Issaquah
School District boundaries to a house
in the 1st District (which covers northern King and Kitsap counties and
southern Snohomish County). At that time, Ishmael will
resign from the school board, and the board will create a public process to
appoint his replacement. Ishmael was elected to his position in November 2003
and his term expires in November 2007.

Issaquah High Career Specialist, who has been selected as the 2005-2006
NorthEast Vocational Area Cooperative
(NEVAC) Support Person of the Year!
