superintendent. The Issaquah School
Board will interview three national search firms next
Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the administration building, 565 N.W. Holly St.— 5

- What’s
faster than a speeding bullet, community-oriented, and there for you in an
emergency? Superman? No—better! E-News. Since you received this message,
you are subscribed to the District’s E-News. But wait—there’s more: This
school year, every school will also regularly send out its own E-News
messages, with pertinent school-related information. If you don’t subscribe,
you might miss out on important information. Go to the main listserv Web page to sign up
for the E-News subscriptions you want.
- Back-to-school time is often
filled with an overwhelming amount of information: new bell times, new
buildings, new teachers… The District’s Calendar and Directories
Web page is a good resource to find much of what you need to know in one
place. You can look up a teacher’s contact information, find out when spring
break is, link to individual schools’ Web sites, and more.
- The
Issaquah School Board on August 9
hired Bellevue-based Hebert
Research to conduct a comprehensive demographics study for the District. The
board directed the final report to project out 5 to 10 years, provide
headcounts districtwide and per school, and include a confidence level for
accuracy. The work will cost $9,500, and Hebert Research will finish the study
by Sept. 7. The board expects to use the demographics to plan for future
construction, boundary changes, and financial planning. Check the
District Web site after Sept. 7 to review the final
study.
- A survey
will be available online August 21 to Sept. 1 for parents of middle- and high-school
students to provide feedback about their student’s school
experience. The survey will be posted on the District’s homepage.
- The new
school year comes with a new nutrition policy
and new procedures.
Look for continuing improvements in the next two years as the District’s Food
Services team focuses on providing healthy food, snacks, and drinks in
cafeterias, vending machines, and elsewhere—because proper nutrition increases
students’ ability to learn and is a life lesson itself.
