WELCOME TO THE 2007-08 SCHOOL YEAR! Our schools are ready and excited to have students back in classrooms. This is shaping up to be a very important year as Superintendent Steve Rasmussen collaborates with staff, parents, students, and community members to create a long-term vision and prioritized goals for Issaquah schools that will help all students succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Great news: Issaquah teachers overwhelmingly ratified a three-year contract yesterday. The School Board anticipates taking the final step in the process by approving the contract at 7 p.m. tonight, Sept. 5, at the Administration Building, 565 N.W. Holly St. More information about the contract will be available this week after it’s officially approved. Congratulations to everyone who worked hard to form a contract that benefits teachers and students.

It’s up to you to make sure the District avoids dancing hamsters on its homepage. Please join a focus group next week to help us design a new website that’s as useful and easy to navigate as possible. Participants can expect fun, interaction, and—refreshments!
