Subject: Make-up days on-line survey
Dear community,
We have opened an online survey to collect your feedback on how to make up the missed school days this year and how to shape school calendars in the future.
With this month's snow closures, we have seven days to make up so far. The State Superintendent has advanced a plan to allow waivers for days missed when the Governor has called a state of emergency. However, there is only a small chance that such a waiver would apply to any but one day in Issaquah (for the December 15th wind day). We understand that placing the make-up days anywhere on the school calendar has the potential to significantly impact students and families. We are sorry. We know your goal is to make sure your children receive the best education possible; that is our first priority, too.
Please be aware that we will not automatically be able to implement your preferences for the make-up days. The current teachers contract stipulates that all make-up days will be placed at the end of the school year. We will follow this stipulation unless we are able to reach a new agreement with the teachers union.
The survey closes at 9:00 pm this Thursday, January 18. Please encourage your neighbors and friends to provide their feedback, too.
Thank you.
