Liberty High students and staff not only put their hearts into their latest campaign—they were saving them, too! Heart disease is the nation’s number-one killer, and Associated Student Body leaders raised awareness and funds to support the American Heart Association at the end of January. In addition to promoting the online donation site, students sold red Rock the Beat t-shirts, which were fashion staples at two events: a “red out” crowd at the home basketball games on Jan. 31 and a rock concert performed by Goodnight Argent at lunches on Feb. 1 (band members wore the t-shirts, too, of course!). All in all, Liberty donated more than $6,000 to the American Heart Association—more than any high school has raised through a Rock the Beat event.
