Kateri Brow Memorial Art collection grows

Issaquah High School graduate Joey Aquino’s four photographs are the latest addition to the Kateri Brow Memorial Art display.
At the board meeting on August 10, Joey proudly unveiled four of his framed photographs. Two were taken in New York, one in Hawaii, and one in Issaquah. Describing the spirit and inspiration behind each of his photos, Joey also explained his reason for naming each after a different female friend. In doing so, he acknowledged his girlfriend in the audience and pointed to his “favorite” picture, named of course, “Courtney.”
Superintendent Janet Barry presented Joey with a check for his photographs and thanked him and Issaquah High School teacher Cary Kodama for helping enrich the Memorial Art display.
The District has been buying student art for the collection since 1998 and has it displayed in the foyer and hallways at the central office. In September three more students will present framed works to the board for the collection. “Joey is leaving now for his first year at the University of Hawaii,” said Superintendent Barry. “We invited him a bit earlier than the other students so that he could be here in person to see your appreciation as he unveiled his work for you.”
