Pay it Forward award goes to Pacific Cascade student
Pacific Cascade ASB Executive Officer Kate Londgren is the latest student to be honored by
Pay it Forward – a program supported by local businesses that recognizes student leaders in the Issaquah School District.
Assistant Principal Condee Holbrook nominated Kate for the award and said, “When I asked her this summer why she wanted to be an officer, she said it was her goal to be friends with everyone in the school. But don’t get me wrong – it’s not for her sake but rather the sake of helping other students feel included that Kate feels this way. She hates thinking that students in the school fee isolated or lonely.
“Throughout this school year, I have watched Kate be true to her word as she seeks people out, encourages students to sit with different people during lunch, and has initiated a new student program where she or someone else from the leadership class is paired with new students for a day to make sure the new students know their way around and have someone to sit with at lunch.
“This is an amazingly compassionate, caring student who truly thinks about those in the school who struggle socially. She has taken it upon herself to help them feel more comfortable, and our school is a friendlier place because of her".
Pay It Forward students are nominated by either teachers or staff for this monthly honor presented as a surprise in their classroom for the things they do to make their school and community a better place for all, without a desire for recognition.
