“What was your journey that developed you into the person you are today—have you experienced extreme emotions in extreme situations?”
These are the questions Liberty High School students will answer in a production called “Teenspeak: My Name is …” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the non-profit Seattle Repertory Theatre, 155 Mercer St., Seattle. Students’ stories of survival will be interwoven through a vocal concert and staged readings. Liberty students will be joined by peers from Cleveland High School and the Shorecrest Options Program, and the stories will capture the experience of Seattle-area teens originally from Afghanistan, Algeria, Chile, India, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Rwanda, Sudan, Taiwan, Thailand, the U.S., and Vietnam.
Tickets are free, but reservations are necessary and can be made by calling 206-443-2222.
With its focus on personal awareness and expression, “Teenspeak” is a program that supports the School Board’s learning goal that graduates “will understand and develop their personal gifts and strengths.”
An Issaquah Schools Foundation Big Ideas Grant and the Liberty PTSA funded this opportunity.
