Background

The process of selecting a Core Team for Pacific Cascade Middle School has begun under the guidance of Principal Dana Bailey. The team will meet throughout the spring and early summer to prepare for the opening in September. The charge of the Core Team is to be responsible for the development of a mission statement and implementation of the curriculum for the school, which supports the district mission, curriculum and policies. The Core Team will also work to involve the community, develop building procedures, and order materials.

The team is made up of 6 teaching staff, 1 librarian, 1 counselor, 6 parents/community members, and 1 secretary. Listed below is the selection process and function for certificated team members:

Certificated team members (teachers)

Qualifications:

1. Staff must have two years of satisfactory teaching experience in the Issaquah School District in order to apply to be a core staff member.
2. Staff must have demonstrated leadership in his/her building(s). Leadership includes, but is not limited to, working on District, building, grade level or department committees and involvement in the IEA.

Selection of Core staff:

1. Core staff will be selected through an application and interview process. Applications were due November 24, 2009 in the Personnel Office. Interviews will be held the week of November 30th.
2. Principal Dana Bailey, Associate Superintendent Ron Thiele, and two teachers named by the IEA President will select core staff.

Parent members

Four parent Core Team members will also be selected through an application and interview process. Parent applications are now on-line and can be downloaded from the tan box above. Applications are due to PCFC secretary Hollie Caley by December 16, 2009 at 3:00 pm. Interviews will be held on December 16 at Pacific Cascade Freshman Campus.
