What materials we use now

Adoption process and timeline

  • High School Physics curriculum parent input survey.
    All comments will be displayed that do not violate the district's civility policy and/or personally name individuals.
  • Teacher materials selection committee: forming February 2018
  • Teacher materials selection committee meeting dates
    Each meeting date includes its planned main agenda item(s), then links to the specific meeting summary when available
    • February 15, 2018: Charter, norms, review of standards and best practices (aligned with NGSS)
    • April 25, 2018: Deep dive into the Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs) and Cross Cutting Concepts (CCCs). Begin to work with the PEEC alignment document
    • June 4, 2018: Vote to suspend materials selection until the following school year.
    • December 5, 2018: Preview additional materials.
    • February 28, 2019: Select materials to field test.
    • March-April 2019: Field Test
  • IMC review and decision: May 2019
  • IMC meeting dates: Meeting dates are reflected in the Upcoming Events section of the District website home page
  • TBD (contingent on IMC recommendation) - For two weeks in March (dates to be determined) parents and community members can review and provide written input on the recommended materials during normal business hours at the Administration Building.
  • Board review: TBD


February 15, 2018: Teachers met to determine consensus process, learn about the 2013 Washington State Science Standards, and determine overarching goals for the course.

April 25, 2018Teachers continued to gain familiarity with the NGSS, specifically the Practices and Cross Cutting Concepts.  Teachers also dove into the demographics of physics across the district and began working with the PEEC alignment document.
