  • Most students are taking the first semester of a year long class they will finish in the spring.

  • Students can take a semester long class in the fall.

  • Students can take the second semester of a year long class in the fall that they started in the spring or summer.


  • There is no tuition cost for a course that you take as one of your seven (IHS, SHS) or eight (LHS) class periods.

  • If you are taking the class beyond your school schedule, the tuition cost is $300.

  • An additional cost for textbooks and materials may be incurred if they are not available at the school.

Drop and Refund Policy

  • The Issaquah School District drop policy for online learning is the same as the policy for the standard classroom.
  • Refund policy for families that are paying the course fee (course is taken in addition to a full schedule):If a course is dropped prior to the course start date, a fee will not be assessed. Courses dropped after the start date may receive a partial refund based on the refund policy of the third party online provider.

Coursework/In-Person Requirements

  • Students can expect to spend at least 5 hours per week working on their online course. Courses cover 18 weeks of curriculum just like a class offered in the traditional classroom setting.


  • All students are required to attend an in-person orientation.

  • Date, time, and location will be communicated via email after the online learning department receives registration paperwork from the counselor.


  • All unit, midterm and final exams must be taken in-person at designated proctored testing sessions.

  • All courses have a final exam. All coursework must be submitted prior to taking the final exam.

  • ON campus students can test during their class or the sessions scheduled outside the school day. Students who choose to test outside the school day must sign up using as shown at the orientation.  
  • OFF campus students test during sessions scheduled outside of the school day and must sign up using as shown at the orientation.

Want to take an online class?

Students meet with their counselor to review their online learning options and to learn if the outside credit they have in mind is acceptable. If the student plans to pursue the outside credit, the signed High School Request for Outside Credit  is submitted to the counselor for required signatures. The counselor will forward the form to the Online Learning Department and the student and guardian(s) will be contacted by email and/or phone.
