Meet Our Principal, Jane Harris

Principal Jane Harris

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Apollo Elementary!

I am truly privileged to be the principal of Apollo Elementary School. Our top-notch and outstanding educators consider it a great honor to work with your children each and every day. We strive to create a learning environment that is guided by the principles of the Rocket Way: Respectfulness, Responsibility, Safety as well an environment which Prepares All Students to Launch!

Parent involvement is a key component to the success of students at Apollo and we are extremely lucky to work in such a passionate and supportive community! We encourage parents and community members to get involved and we welcome your support. Please take advantage of the many opportunities to volunteer through your teacher, the VOICE mentor program or the exceptional PTSA. We look forward to working with you.

This is my 5th year as principal of Apollo Elementary! I started my career in the Tacoma School District, where I taught at Lincoln High School. I joined the Issaquah School District 19 years ago, as I taught at Liberty High School and went on to be an Assistant Principal at Maywood Middle School before becoming principal at Apollo.  I have enjoyed and learned so much from each of my educational experiences and am excited to continue learning from the staff and community of Apollo and the Issaquah School District as a whole. I have loved every minute of it being a part of the Issaquah School District!

On a personal note, I am a Seattleite born and raised! I received my under graduated degree from the University of Washington and am a huge DAWG FAN, as well as all support all Washington college teams...when they are not playing the UW! For fun, I enjoy being a better than decent golfer, dream of collecting classic cars and traveling to places that need my passport, as well as spending time with family and friends!

I have a genuine passion for education and advocating for all students; as well as leading our dedicated educators. It is of great importance to me that Apollo students receive the highest quality education and that is accomplished by providing an atmosphere where all students feel safe, valued and successful. I strive to provide transparent and open communication, while making decisions based on what is best for our students.

I look forward meeting you and to a school year filled with wonderful opportunities for all our “Lil’ Rockets”!

Sincerely,

Jane Harris
