Dear Issaquah School District Community,
As you are likely aware, Governor Jay Inslee recently announced new restrictions designed to help mitigate rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in our state, including limits on social gatherings, restaurants and other facilities. Questions may have surfaced about what effect these restrictions will have on the operation of our school system.
It is important for you to know that K-12 education and childcare are exempt from the new state restrictions. As a district, we will continue in-person supports such as meal distribution and services for those special education students who have resumed in-person learning in our schools. Our Administration Building will remain closed to the public.
While the local COVID-19 case rate in our district remains below that of King County as a whole, we are experiencing a troubling surge of cases, nonetheless. Governor Inslee's expanded restrictions, which began yesterday, November 16, were a direct response to this rapid growth over the course of the past two weeks.
We understand that these restrictions may be extremely difficult for many, particularly as we approach the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Please continue to follow public health and state guidance so we can work to protect our community and reverse this upward trend. Thank you.
