Cascade Ridge and Challenger Elementary Kindergarten - 3rd Grade Details for May 20th Start of Pilot Extended In-Person Learning

Dear K- 3rd grade families of current in-person students,

As we shared in the District E-News on May 13, we are preparing to provide an extended day to K-3 students who are currently attending in-person hybrid learning. The school day will be extended an additional two hours, four days per week beginning on Thursday, May 20. Please review the following message carefully. It includes important information for those families whose students will attend extended in-person learning.

Information for K- 3rd grade families whose students currently attend in-person hybrid learning

Beginning, Thursday May 20th, students and families can expect the following:

New Extended Day Student Schedule – 9 a.m. arrival, 2:30 p.m. dismissal

During this extended day schedule, students will attend in person 5.5 hours per day, 4 days per week. Following the 2:30 dismissal and transition time, students will access specialists such as music, P.E., and library asynchronously at home. On Wednesdays, students will learn from remote instruction. Lunch At School

  • Sack lunch will be available to all students free of charge or students may chose to bring their own lunch.
  • Families should expect their school to send out information with a link/QR code to pre-order lunches on a weekly basis.
  • Students will be required to wash their hands before leaving the classroom for lunch.
  • Students will be required to use hand sanitizer as they enter and exit the cafeteria.
  • Students will have assigned seats within their cohorts and cohorts will have assigned locations in the lunchroom.
  • Spacing between class cohorts will be at the maximum space possible.
  • Students will be expected to keep masks on when they are not eating.
  • Tables will be cleaned and sanitized before and after each cohort’s lunch.

Schools will continue to follow specific health and safety guidelines and COVID mitigation protocols during this extended day pilot.

Kindergarten students at Challenger who are currently riding the bus will continue with transportation services with dismissal at 2:30 p.m.
