Social Media Guidelines

The Issaquah School District, as well as various programs and schools, are active on social media. The goal of Issaquah School District’s social media presence is to share important information about the District with our public and engage in an open and respectful dialogue.

To help us accomplish this goal, please abide by these guidelines:

  • ISD social media channels are not intended to replace regular communication channels for sharing personal issues and concerns. Comments regarding a personal issue with the district, school or staff member should be handled directly through email, phone, or in person.
  • Please be certain that your comments are appropriate for an educational environment and people of all ages.
  • Be respectful. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Inappropriate remarks and profanity will be removed. Do not direct vulgar, obscene, or profane gestures or words at another individual.
  • Have a question? Please use the direct message feature. Please note that the site is only monitored during regular business hours. We will attempt to respond as quickly as possible during normal business hours.
  • All comments and communication must come from a verifiable account. Comments made by individuals who are misrepresenting themselves or from unverifiable accounts will be removed.

The Issaquah School District reserves the right to remove comments deemed inappropriate based on its regulations on social media and civility.

This includes comments that have obscene language or sexual content, threaten or defame any person or organization, violate the legal ownership interest of another party, support or oppose political candidates or ballot propositions, promote illegal activity, promote commercial services or products, or are not topically related to the particular posting, or contain contents that promote, foster, or perpetuate discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation.

The District will not, however, remove comments based on viewpoint, so long as the ideas are presented in a respectful manner and at a time and place that are appropriate, and such expression does not materially disrupt, and may not be reasonably anticipated to disrupt the educational process.

All comments on the District's Facebook page related to District business will be considered public records subject to disclosure upon request.

Please note that the district's social media accounts are not monitored during non-business hours except in cases of emergency or weather-related events.
