Update on 504 Services

Dear Issaquah School District students and families with a 504 plan:

As you are aware, Issaquah Schools are well under way in the 2020-21 school year in a remote learning environment, called ISD L.I.V.E., which stands for Learning and Instruction in Virtual Education. Our goal is to support your student and your family in these ever-changing circumstances. We are committed to partnering with you to ensure your student’s access to learning, and continued implementation of your student’s 504 plan, whether we are in remote, hybrid, or in-person learning. Your student’s counselor is their 504 coordinator and can be a point of contact.


L.I.V.E. is a modified version of our regular school program using our Learning Management Systems (LMS) to create a virtual classroom. Teachers provide daily, direct instruction adapting the instructional practices used in the classroom to promote a learning community, inquiry, discourse, and practice. Some learning takes place live, while other learning activities can be completed by students on their own.

For students to participate in L.I.V.E., they need access to a school-ready computer and internet. If your student does not have access to a school-ready computer/hotspot, please contact your school office and they will help you. Your student’s 504 plan is meant to provide the necessary accommodations for them to access to their education. Your student’s teachers, and 504 coordinator, can help address any questions about your student’s access to education during L.I.V.E. Remote Learning.

What to expect in 504 meetings:

Some of you have already experienced a virtual platform for 504 meetings. 504 teams may use Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or conference calls to conduct these meetings. 504 teams can arrange for an interpreter to join the meeting. For any questions about access to 504 meetings, please contact your student’s school counselor.


  • What should I do if my child needs assistive technology that s/he uses at school, or has problems with their assistive technology? Contact your student’s 504 coordinator to express the need. We are working with the assistive technology staff to address these concerns.
  • What should I do if my student is struggling to access ISD L.I.V.E. Remote Learning in a particular class? Contact the teacher via email to explore possible solutions and consider including the 504 coordinator as needed.
