Covid-19 Senior Update

On April 23rd Principal McCormick hosted a live-stream outlining the school's plan to try to safely offer some of the senior traditions remotely or at a later time. Just to recap, here are the school sponsored senior events along with a description of how they will be delivered this spring for Class of 2020.

Senior recognition: This year, the senior recognition ceremony will be done virtually on May 7th @ 7pm.

Cap/gown distribution: Seniors will be picking up their caps/gowns/diploma covers and any other relevant graduation items on EITHER May 12th or 14th at their assigned time (click here to see schedule). The location for this is the old bus loop. Seniors MUST come at their assigned time slot. If they cannot make that time slot, there is a make up time slot they can attend. Please read the attached instructions for cap/gown pick up to make sure you know your designated date and time slot and all instructions.

Prom: Prom at our originally scheduled venue/date/time is cancelled. We are entertaining the idea of a prom in July to be held at Issaquah High School if we are able to and still follow whatever the current public health and Governor's orders are re: safety and large group gatherings. We recognize that one of the hardest parts of this is that anything we move to new dates will have conflicts for some of our seniors (leaving for military, summer internships, family vacations, etc.). Knowing that, the senior class council has sent out a survey to seniors to find a date in July that works for the MOST seniors. We will select the date that can accommodate largest number of seniors.

Yearbook distribution: Seniors always get yearbooks first. This year will be no exception. We plan on distributing yearbooks to seniors only on June 5th in the old bus loop.  Seniors MUST come at their assigned time slot (click here to see assigned time slots). If they cannot make that time slot there is a make up time slot. Please read the attached instructions for yearbook distribution to make sure you know your designated time slot for this day.

Year end assembly and movie: iVision is working on a year end movie that will air on June 11th. ASB is also working on offering some of the year end assembly components to be virtually aired alongside the year end movie. The virtual assembly/movie will be put on our website and sent via Enews to all students and families.

Senior farewell tunnel: All of our Issaquah High students start their high school experience by walking through a tunnel of staff members welcoming them on to campus on the first day of freshmen year. Seniors then end their time with us by leaving through a staff tunnel. We plan to still offer this tradition by doing a combination of a virtual farewell and via drive through "tunnel". The virtual farewell will be at the end of the year end movie and assembly; staff will virtually say farewell and wish you well in your futures. Following this virtual farewell, seniors are invited to come drive through a staff "tunnel" on campus. Seniors will enter the main entrance from 2nd Ave and drive through the drop off loop. Staff will be there to safely see your faces from a distance. If you do not have access to transportation to participate in this event - please contact your administrator.

Graduation: Our in person graduation ceremony is cancelled. We will be posting a virtual graduation on 1pm on June 12th for students/families to participate in from the safety of their homes. We will follow our traditional graduation program as closely as we can just virtually. There are a few steps we need students to do to help us pull this off.  Students will be given a date/time to come to campus and participate in senior stations (click here to see Senior Station schedule). These stations will include critical nuts and bolts in getting cleared to graduate: returning textbooks/equipment, cleaning out all personal items (lockers, etc.), AND most importantly taking a professional social distanced photograph in your cap and gown to be used in the virtual ceremony and provided as a keepsake for your family. We are also still entertaining an opportunity to "walk" in an in person ceremony in July at the Issaquah High School stadium. This will rely on the current public health and Governor's orders allowing us to hold large group gatherings. Similar to the prom survey about dates that work best for everyone, please take this survey about all July dates you'd be able to participate in an in person graduation ceremony. Please complete this by May 1st. After the senior stations day, counselors will also be clearing seniors to graduate based on having paid all fines/fees and completing all graduation requirements. There will also be one more item return date advertised at a later time for any student needing to keep a school issued item to access learning (wifi hot spot, laptop, textbook, etc.).

Please take time to read through the documents below for more details about Graduation and other events:
