Our School

Learning Together with Pride

Mission and Vision

At Newcastle, our students…

  • Build character as caring and responsible citizens.
  • Grow as inquisitive, independent and confident learners.
  • Acquire problem solving skills and strategies with perseverance and creativity.
  • Develop thinking skills and habits applied across content and to real life situations.

To support student growth, our staff designs the school environment and experiences to…

  • Integrate peer collaboration and support positive social engagement.
  • Guide students as they share the responsibility of their learning.
  • Design authentic learning tasks and questions that connect new concepts and skills to the world around them.
  • Identify and adjust to each student’s needs to deepen knowledge and thinking skills.

Newcastle Elementary School opened its doors in 2004, fully wired and furnished and “home” for more than 400 students. The facility includes sophisticated educational technology, enabling teachers at a flick of a switch to engage students in computerized lessons, DVD experiences, internet exploration, or group projects. A large Commons and full stage accommodates concerts and programs and the baseball field is available for community use.

Newcastle supports every student’s learning. Parents partner to create a Study Coach program providing one-on-one support to students in need either academically or emotionally.

As the first official public building in the Newcastle city limits, the school is a learning center for students and a community gathering place for residents.

Newcastle dismisses classes early every Wednesday for two hours of staff collaboration.
