Issaquah School Board Earns 11th Consecutive Board of Distinction Award from the Washington State School Directors Association

Posted by L Michelle on November 01, 2019

The Issaquah School District (ISD) is pleased  to announce that the Issaquah School Board has been recognized by the Washington State School Directors Association (WSSDA) as a 2019 Board of Distinction. The ISD School Board was among the first to be named a Board of Distinction and has received this merit for eleven consecutive years since the award program began.  Additionally, the Issaquah School Board was named School Board of the Year by WSSDA in both 2015 and 2017.

“I have said for years that the Issaquah School Board is the hardest working school board in the nation,” said ISD Superintendent, Ron Thiele. “It would be impossible to calculate how much time, attention, and energy each of our Directors has put in to serve students, parents, staff, and the entire Issaquah School District community. They are so deserving and I am pleased that they have received this recognition of their dedication.”

The award will presented at the WSSDA annual conference held in Bellevue, WA November 21- 23. The Issaquah School Board is comprised of Board President and District #3 Representative Harlan Gallinger; WSSDA Immediate Past President, Legislative Representative, and  District #2 Representative Marnie Maraldo;  District #4 Representative Sydne Mullings; past ISD School Board President and District #4 Representative Anne Moore; and past ISD  Board President and District #5 representative Suzanne Weaver.
