School Board Responds to Inequitable Funding

Posted on October 15, 2021

As discussed in our recent School Board meetings the distribution of the Federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funding by Washington State's Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has been inequitable. While the initial response from OSPI was not encouraging, we are continuing to seek opportunities for advocacy for our District funding. OSPI currently has $93 million unallocated federal ESSER funding that could be used to equitably support the few districts left underwater like Issaquah School District. To better understand, review the letter our School Board sent to OSPI.
