Apollo Elementary Geography Bee

Posted by User Not Found on 23 January, 2015

Do you know which continent lies entirely north of the Tropic of Cancer? Apollo Elementary School fourth and fifth grade students tested their geographical knowledge at the school’s 2nd Annual National Geographic Bee. To qualify, students participated in mini geography bee challenges in their individual classrooms during the month of December. The classroom bees determined which grade-level finalists would compete for the title of Geography Champion.

During the Championship Round, ten student finalists gathered on the Apollo stage and correctly answered as many geography questions as they could. Arthur Gwozdz, a fourth grade student, answered the most questions correctly and took home first place. The runner-up was a fifth grade student, Henry Nguyen.

School champion Arthur Gwozdz is awaiting results from a written test taken after the competition to determine his eligibility for the state bee. That competition will held on March 27, 2015. State winners are invited to National Geographic headquarters to compete in the national finals for scholarships and exciting prizes.
