Caring community brings Breakfast Club to Tiger Mountain

Posted by Jake G. on 10 October, 2013
Hunger. It may come as a surprise, but food scarcity is a reality for a substantial number of students attending Tiger Mountain Community High School. Without a good breakfast to start the day, it is difficult for students to concentrate on their academics. Recognizing the need, Principal Michael Schiehser and his staff enlisted the help of the Issaquah Schools Foundation and community volunteers to launch their Wednesday morning Breakfast Club this year. Wednesday mornings from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., students gather for a nutritious breakfast that is purchased, cooked, and served by the volunteers free of charge. On other days of the week, students are offered a breakfast bar before school starts. The Breakfast Club encourages students to arrive on time and be able to engage and focus on their learning.
