Briarwood Celebrates Cultural Heritage

Posted by User Not Found on 2 February, 2015

Students and families celebrated their unique cultural heritages at Briarwood Elementary School’s recent PTA sponsored multi-cultural night. During the festivities, students received passport books that they used to travel to each represented country. At each country students participated in arts and crafts, tried the delicious ethnic food, and learned about the country. Crafts included decorating Australian aboriginal lizards, painting African necklaces, and designing a hand for the “Hands around the World” display. Students were also encouraged to join in and watch the many cultural performances, such as Hawaiian Hula, classical Eastern Indian songs, Tea Kwon Do demonstrations, and Neah Bay Native American Drumming.
