The 12-member ISD bus roadeo team poses with their trophy

ISD Bus Drivers Win Regional Safety Competition

Posted by Devin Felix on 13 May, 2019
We talk a lot about our students' many victories and awards, but did you know our bus drivers are champions too? A team of Issaquah School District bus drivers claimed first place at the regional Bus Roadeo held May 4 at Summit Trail Middle school in the Tahoma School District.

The Roadeo is a safety competition that tests drivers' skills. Participants must demonstrate their ability to maneuver a bus through a course, parallel park, make proper left turns, reverse the bus, perform a pre-trip check, and more. They also show their knowledge with a written test.

When the team's individual scores were added up, ISD claimed the overall team victory. ISD driver Dru Moeller took second place overall, and Lynn McArthur took third place. Amber Thomas placed second in the rookie division. Dru and Lynn will compete in the state Roadeo competition in Kennewick in June! Congratulations to the team, and thanks for your commitment to safety!
