Creekside Math Club Celebrates a Year of Achievement

Posted by User Not Found on 2 June, 2016

Every Thursday throughout the school year, nineteen Creekside Elementary School students met after school to challenge their math skills. While learning new concepts, the club participated in three math competitions during the year including: Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS), Math Is Cool, and the Washington State Math Olympiad.

Due to hard work on the five MOEMS tests, Akshath R. won a gold pin for placing in the top 2% of all scores and 10 of the club members also placed in the top 50%. At the Washington State Math Olympiad, two of the club’s teams Team 5A of Akshath R., Kavya K., Suchita J., and Cole M., and Team 5B of Tyler A., Varun M., Anika R., and Irina S. won overall Superior Award ribbons in the short problem category.

The Creekside Math Club will resume during the next School year in October 2016 thanks to sponsorship by the Creekside PTSA and parent volunteers.
