Posted by User Not Found on 20 February, 2015

Congratulations to Aditi Srinivasan who recently won the Discovery Elementary school-wide Spelling Bee. The Discovery Elementary spelling bee competition was held in two parts, a preliminary written test and an oral test. First, students from all grades participated in preliminary spelling bees in their classrooms. The preliminary bees were written tests to determine finalists for the oral spelling bee. The oral spelling bee was held February 5 and 6 and featured ten finalists from each grade. Throughout the competition, students used the Scripps National Spelling Bee rules and words. Hollie Smith, Discovery Spelling Bee PTA chair shared, “The kids did awesome and we actually ran out of words! The words went all the way to the 8th grade level and we had to go to an alternate list to determine the winners.” Students competed at grade level with a first place winner from each grade. The first place winners then competed for the overall school championship title. Aditi Srinivasan, a 5th grader won the overall school title and will compete at the regional event in Seattle later this year.
