Posted by Elizabeth Egan on 29 November, 2017

The Issaquah High School girls’ soccer team captured the WIAA State Champion title on Saturday, November 18. The team played against Central Valley, the match resulting in a 2-1 victory. The state championship ends an amazing season for the Issaquah High girls’ soccer team with a 20-2-0 record. The team beat four #1 seeds on their way to the championship tournament that included two undefeated teams and the defending state champion. Issaquah’s squad scored a school record 87 goals with only 8 against. Senior Midfielder Catey Nelson scored a goal in every state tournament game.

This is the fifth state title for the high school in girls’ soccer team, which matches the state best. Claudia Longo (senior) and Mariah Van Halm (senior) will be playing in the high school All-American game in December, and many additional athletes completed the season with all-league honors.
