Issaquah High’s Meggie Obernberger and Liberty High’s Jessie Woldstad Receive Judges’ Choice Awards at 45th Annual Superintendent’s High School Art Show

Posted by Elizabeth Egan on 21 June, 2018

Congratulations to two Issaquah School District seniors on being awarded Judges’ Choice awards at the 45th Annual Superintendent’s High School Art Show. Issaquah High’s Meggie Obernberger’s artwork titled “First Tide” (textile – yarn, canvas, acrylic paint), and Liberty’s Jessie Woldstad’s artwork titled “Grounded” (painting) were honored.

Accompanied by their art teachers (Mark Moody – IHS, and Annie Cooper – LHS) both artists were recognized at an awards reception in Olympia. This is the first award for Woldstad, and second for Obernberger, who was honored with a Judges’ Choice award in 2017.

Next year, both Obernberger and Woldstad will be studying at the University of Washington. Congratulations Meggie and Jessie!

The Superintendent's High School Art Show is an annual event co-hosted by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and the Washington Art Education Association (WAEA). High school students from all nine of the state's educational service districts (ESDs) participate in this artistic celebration each year. The finalists from the Regional and State High School Art Shows are invited to participate in the Superintendent's High School Art Show.
