Issaquah School District Participates in 2017 Hour of Code Event

Posted by Elizabeth Egan on 7 December, 2017
Schools all over the district are taking part in the global Hour of Code event this week, which is celebrated during Computer Science Education Week each year. The Hour of Code aims to demystify coding and show all involved that anybody can learn the basics, broadening exposure to the field of computer science.

Kindergarten aged students through seniors in high school took time to explore coding this week through various interactive, hands-on activities, which help in learning computational thinking – an invaluable skill in an increasingly technology-dependent world. Additionally many staff members took time to explore the world of coding on Tuesday at the Administrative Building. Numerous computer programs were used to help aid in these lessons including Scratch, Scratch Jr., Ozobots, and Makey Makey.
